Serenade

Carolina Ballet’s production of Serenade will run from Thursday, April 26th through Sunday, April 29th at the Duke Energy Center!

"Serenade has a special place in Carolina Ballet history, having been performed in the company’s inaugural season. Considered a seminal work in the ballet world, it is the first original work choreographed in the United States by George Balanchine, the father of American ballet. Although Balanchine insisted Serenade had no “story,” it is not without drama and emotion. Serenade brings the romantic music of Tchaikovsky to life in a way that is more poetic than narrative. It is a dream full of mysterious imagery, a dance in the moonlight. Since its creation, many have debated its meaning, but once you experience Serenade, there is no denying its significance."
